Dr Shannon and staff are awesome. She is extremely knowledgeable of the Havana Brown breed. The care and handling are second to none. I have since relocated out of state and have yet to find a Vet and staff that have the knowledge and caring of The Cat Hospital. Only to find and have that quality of care in our new location would be a dream come true. Thank You Dr. Shannon, Haven misses you and wishes you still were her Dr.
Dr. Shannon and her awesome staff are really as good as everyone says they are! Friendly, prompt and caring! It’s the Taj Mahal of kitty hospitals! It’s so calm and clean, even my scaredy cat loves to get out of the carrier and explore. I really couldn’t believe the high quality of the service and facility for the reasonable price. My two kitties really can get the best service and I can stay within my budget. Highly recommended!!
My husband and I are cat lovers and have been to many vets in the Tampa Bay area for close to 30 years, before the idea of cat-only clinics was an option. Now it seems every clinic has a cat-only side to their business, to ensure that revenue stream is not lost to the true cat specialists and cat-lover providers. Do not be confused between a clinic who offers cat-only services and a veterinarian who is a true authority on cats (as Dr. Shannon is) and who offers cat-only services. We had been loyal customers of an established cat-only clinic here in Tampa for over 15 years, until one of our boys was having serious health issues and we became frustrated and disgusted with the service we were receiving, forcing us to explore other options and leading us Dr. Shannon. We were in a crisis with one of our boys (at the time 1 year of age) and Dr Shannon and staff took us in on a moment’s notice and precisely evaluated and treated our boy, who, after a 6-month rough spot, is now 3 years old and enjoying excellent health. Dr. Shannon was devoted to his care and we owe this outcome to her extensive experience with cats. She is conservative in her approach in the sense that she uses a process of elimination as opposed to running every costly test under the sun. I honestly feel there is no other cat veterinarian in this region that is as qualified as Dr. Shannon, a true cat person herself. That’s the difference, she and her husband have a houseful of cats and one quickly sees that cats are her passion, not just her specialty. She will treat your cats as if they are her own. She is compassionate. She is skillful. She is everything a cat owner can ask for. I don’t dare mention her rescue attributes for fear it will lead people to her for the wrong reason, so you will just have to trust me when I tell you that Dr. Shannon in a one-of-a kind cat veterinarian. We live in Tampa and Dr. Shannon’s clinic is across the Gandy bridge, but the little extra distance is well worth it for the excellent care our boys receive, from Dr. Shannon and from the caring staff. Just cannot say enough about these people. And the clinic is CLEAN and state of the art. You won’t be disappointed. Visit this clinic one time and you will experience firsthand everything I am describing. It may seem like a distance for you if you live in Tampa, but the driving time is not appreciably greater. I am happy to speak with anyone and give Dr. Shannon my permission to provide my cell number to anyone requesting it. For obvious reasons, I do not want to disiplay it on the Website. If you too are passionate about your cats, you owe it to yourself and your cats to visit Dr. Shannon.
We are truly greatful to the cat hospital for saving our baby cheesey the cat, we had been going to another vet. on fourth street north ever since we lived here in florida, our little girl cheesey the cat ( 17 years old now was having real bad diahrea and vomiting, so we took her to our vet on fourth street called gateway, well the vet really didnt give a real diagnosis, so he said it might be chrones disease or upset tummy from something she ate or nerves, well he kept giving medicine week after week and we trusted him, finally we had to do something else because the weeks that passed our baby was loosing weight and the medicine he prescribe wasnt doing anything, we were distraught that we were losing our baby, so we heard of the cat hospital (DR. shannon)we took our baby to her and less than 1 minute she diagnosed her with hyper thyroid, she ran test for confirmation and the results of her minute diagnosis was confirmed, so cheesey is happy and plays with her sister buttons daily for an elderly cat she does pretty good, she is on medicine 2 times a day but if it wasnt for dr. shannon she would not be with us today, so we cannot ever express our gratitude enough, dr shannon and her staff are amazing angels who definitly was sent to this community to help and care for our babies, thank you the bailey family
I brought in my adult son’s critically ill cat on a Friday afternoon, after 4:00PM, without an appointment. Dr. Shannon was just leaving for an appointment, but she agreed to see him anyway. Although she was not able to save Kitty Boy’s life, she called me the next day to express her condolences and explain the results of the final lab tests. We learned his death was not caused by negligence on our part, and this was greatly appreciated, since we were all feeling very guilty.
I admire the fact that she and her staff made time to see a patient they had never treated before. It meant a great deal to us.

Dr. Shannon and her staff are really friendly and caring people. I left feeling confident that I knew what was going on. Dr. Shannon took the time to explain in terms taht i could understand, and even drew a diagram of my cats blood glucose levels so I could see where they were and where they needed to be. I would highly suggest Dr. Shannon to any cat lover. Prices are not bad and staff is wonderful.
